My first day in India was spent in Mumbai. I missed my flight to Ahmadabad because the plane was late leaving Paris, so was stranded in the airport at 2am. Hotels in Mumbai are not cheap but the wonderful manager for AirIndia booked me onto a flight for that evening, found me a hotel and a taxicab and I was able to sleep off my jetlag. I spent the day cautiously peeking at my new surroundings. Nearby was a busy street market that I explored, and I enjoyed wonderful Thali at a nearby restaurant.
